Life As I Know it

Busy. One word to describe my life over the past 8 months.  Hence the severe lack of life over her at Chocolate Broccoli.  Last week when the September/October issue of Taste of Home magazine hit the shelves and your mail boxes, I noticed my pretty picture was front and center as the newest Field Editor (SUH-weet!) on page 116.  It boasted about my love of cooking and talked about my sweet family, as well as mentioned my humble blog.. that has been neglected for the past three months (or more- woops!)  I figured I needed to break the silence at some point.  I’ve worked so hard to build this database of recipes and I couldn’t bring myself to blow it off.

That’s just not me at all whatsoever.

I am actually still meal planning and cooking regularly for the most part, but honestly, the food that comes out of my kitchen seems as though it isn’t ‘blog worthy’ enough to share.  What I came to realize, after a conversation over one of my super simple (quick!) meals, is that as my life has changed, my cooking has changed and so this blog should make a transition to grow with me, too!  I no longer have two hours in the evening to cook these amazing meals for me and my Fireman.  Instead I’m finagling two eight month old infants and throwing something together in a snap after we get them down for the evening.

Blog worthy?  I think so.. I know I’m not the only one with a busy life and that desperately needs recipes with ingredients list entailing less than 8 items.  Literally.  So why not!

So..my foodie blog break is over.  I am quite blessed with this life I’m living these days, and you can keep up with me and my sweet family over at 3 Ladies & Their Gent- but for all your foodie needs?  CB is back.

I’ve missed you.

  1. This makes me happy! We still use CB recipes all the time! XoXo

  2. Yay!! I would love to see some easy and healthy recipes.

  3. Glad you will be blogging again. I follow you on ig and I am so excited to see a twin mom foodie. My b/g twins are 12 months and I have a 4 year old daughter as well. No longer do I have time to cook extravagant meals and I am now cooking for a family of 5 with 3 little ones so it has to be kid friendly. However, I want my kids to love great food so nuggets and mac n cheese should be for emergencies only. Surprisingly, my 4 year old doesn’t like either so I guess I am doing pretty well…or it’s just a coincidence.

i was so excited to see your message in taste of home. My daughter’s husband is a fire and rescue person (firefighter with an EMT) and they just had a baby girl in March. I’m making homemade baby food but my son-in-law is a very healthy eater. I babysit at their home when they both work and I love to cook like my grandma (butter, cream, fried food, etc.) I was hoping that you could help me on some recipes but I see you have your hands full with the twins and husband. Too bad we couldn’t share some recipes.

  5. Where is your bed/headboard from?
